I've just bough two incomplete 13-050 plough planes to combine into one. I noticed machining(is that the right word?) is a bit different between the two but also one has a screw next to a handle. whats it for?

Position the sliding section where you need it, using the thumbscrew onto the front rod. Then tighten that screw against the main body, to lock it up solid.
The Record 050 has the same feature.

any good videos out there showing how to do beadings with this plane? Also, whats this second depth stop for that sits on top of a skate?

Mitch Peacock has some videos on using a Stanley 45 plane which is fairly similar to your one.

I've got a lovely fairly complete Record No. 405 somewhere with loads of cutters. Never used the bleeding thing!

The second depth stop is just for beading T&G matchboarding. It rides along the tongue so you can make a bead beside it.
