My second major project, completed a little over two years ago, was a mini greenhouse that sits over the ends of the two raised beds in our garden. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a site for a proper free-standing greenhouse in the garden. For this project I bought a load of air dried cedar from Co2 Timber in Somerset. In the main the design works well for rearing seedlings but growing tomato plants in the summer does present some access problems. But it was a very enjoyable build.
A sketchup model to finesse the design.
There was quite a weight of timber but the car managed the trip back from Somerset. This was enough for the greenhouse and a few items for the garden.
First off I attached the frame to the raised beds - should have taken the bean poles down before taking photos :-(
Adding the tongue and groove cladding where needed.
Polycarbonate roof lights, top and side 'glazing' installed.
And finally with the front polycarbonate sheets, door and removable shelving in place.
The leftover cedar went into a Hedgehog House and these garden planters
Sadly, we haven't managed to attract any occupants to the hedgehog house yet.
