That isn't so.

The NOVA range of lathes (NOVA Galaxi, XP, 1624 and 1624), can all use the NOVA outrigger.

The headstock swivels around, so will face outwards - you don't attach a chuck on the rear of the headstock spindle

David.
What was meant was there's no facility to attach a chuck to the left side of the headstock, not that you couldn't turn outboard.

Yorkieguy Phil has said what I was trying to get across. 👍 I have a couple of the Nova 3000s with the 8 step pulleys, the older one with the outboard rest. I don't mind the belt change but if it ever bugs me I have a 1 1/2hp and a 2hp three phase motors that I could fit up and add a VFD. The only mildly difficult part would be adapting the bigger motor shaft to the 5/8" pulleys. I have a metal lathe and could turn the motor shaft down if needed. As to the control board burning out you can still get replacements, all be it not cheap. https://woodworkerspecialties.com/product/nova-dvr-xp-control-panel-upgrade-55234/ It would be a last resort if a local old school electronics wizard couldn't fix it. Too late for your club now as I suspect they got rid of it but maybe someone else reading all this might need a board.

It's not clear whether the chuck was bought with the lathe. Even if it was there's no guarantee it was used on it or even that it's possible for it to be used on it. The lathe not having an outboard turning facility would lead you to believe a chuck that came with probably isn't left hand threaded but that's

Someone asked me to share a photo of the spindle
