It is the scariest machine I have ever seen. He shoves a log onto the revolving cone, which screws into it and then the log explodes. It's terrifying. Very simple technology, pretty quick, but absolutely terrifying.

He just laughs, but I wouldn't use one.

We used to have Hycrack splitter that works just as you describe. It was very effective but too scary for me so sold onto another nutter.

Darn - it was my birthday last month and one of those would be a treat!

Out of interest, what size Honda is that driving it? The machines like that up seem usually to be attached to 100+hp New Hollands (or more often, similar sized, but rusty, Fords)

Only a 16 HP put dives it very well. It can also be run off a tractor PTO and when running it from our 55HP tractor there is very little difference. Think this is due to the Hondas engine speed being well matched to hydraulic pump.
