I recently bought a KUFO spindle moulder (model number SK-28SP) as my back up and small work machine.

I got it second hand and it came with no manual so I'm not entirely sure what size block I can put on it. I have a Tend 'Multi Profile Cutter Block' on my main machine so will be sticking with trend.

The motor is rated at 3Kw (single phase) operating at 3000/6250/9000 rpm. The opening in the table is 145mm (5 3/4"), so would it be safe to say I can put the 114mm cutter block in without any worries?

It should state on the block the operating range of rpm it is designed for.
It is a case of the tooling matching spindle speed over spindle speed matching cutter block.
The other factor is the spindle aperture size, if the opening of the table is 145mm dia' then the block plus cutter protrusion should be less than that.( for when part of the cutter may be below table height)

For example the CMT 100mm dia' block I have (aluminium type) is rated from 5800 to 9000 rpm. It would not be wise to run it at a higher rpm though it could be run lower although the quality of cut may deteriorate.
The point of variable speeds of rpm is to suit the cutter to the material and feed rate, in order to get the best finish at the most expedient rate.
Hope this helps, Rob.

Cheers Rob,

The cutter block I wanted had an operational range of 5500-8500 rpm so well within the spindles range. The block plus rebating cutters comes out at about 128mm so again within the tables aperture.

However I'm going for a smaller block which better suits the spindles speed range and gives a bit more space around the aperture.
