spindle adaptor

I recently upgraded my lathe to a fox. Consequently I have a record 3/4x16tpi chuck which I cant currently use, also a 4 jaw chuck that is bloody awful but I got used to. My new lathe is 1"x8tpi. Does anyone know where I can get a spindle adaptor so I can use the old stuff with the new lathe? Failing that I guess I have stuff for sale the above with a battered clark clw12d lathe along with chucks and also an ok clark scrollsaw

Check out Tool Post. They usually have different adaptors for chucks.

I have gone down the same route, but to be honest I wish I had bitten the bullet and bought a new chuck. The adaptor is a big, heavy brute and it also protrudes from the face of my chuck, meaning it couldnt shut completely. Luckily my friend works with CNC machines so got a spotty oik to machine off the best part of an inch of thread. Its also tricky to remove as you have to hold both chuck and adaptor when un screwing from the lathe.

In fact, I've just now decided to sort it out after xmas by selling it and getting a new chuck to fit!

Could you let us know which Fox you got and what you think of it please? They seem to be really popular in France but I can find little info about them in the UK. I am in need of upgrading from my Perform and am on a strict budget and the 2 higher spec Fox lathes(not counting the Supalathe which is outside my pocketmoney) seem (by spec) to be about the best I can find for the price range.

Pete it is on the list as Delta F46-719-1HP . . Fox fx4000 and fx2000 chucks.


Don't know the significance of the name difference.

I think it used to be marketed in the UK under the Delta label. That one is (I think) the lower spec one. Perhaps Terry will read and get back. Anyway, a review would be useful if it is

Im not sure what you yould like to know about it. I upgraded from a clark cwl12d which gave me a year of happy turning. It has a 1hp motor, nearly three times more power than my previous one and to be honest more power than I will ever need. It is sturdily built and heavy. I no longer chase the lathe round the workshop. I also like the variable speed feature. In general I am delighted with the lathe. If you would like details, please feel free to ask.

Thanks Bob, I nee (want) to upgrade and as said the Fox seems a good alternative. There are 2 versions that I am looking at. one is 1hp and the other 1 1/2 hp. the other differences are the 1st has a 14" dia over the bed and a biottom speed of 450 whilst the 2nd has a low speed of 500 with 16" over the bed. I am undecided whether the to go for the lower speed and less hp or the higher low speed with extra size and power. Ideally I'd like a really low speed and good size over the bed but the price jump is too much in any brand. I'd be talking of £ 800+ to achieve this. Any views on how the Fox performs etc would be useful to me and probably others on here as well

I took a Patriot chuck at the same time ( £140 )
and cannot speak highly enough of it.
