Always thought these crude tri-squares. Ignored them.
Just received one (Hultafore) and watched

I've a new respect for a)roofers b) the tool.

No, I can't remember it all, and no, I've not built a roof,
But I really appreciate the inbuilt 'tools' and calculations.
 
I too came across a similar video on the use of a framing square a while ago and, like you, can't remember any of it!!
Youtube is now becoming a repository for all the information that used to get passed on down the generations - both sad and good in equal measure!
 
Very much an American tool. For what they do, they are great. For almost everyrhing else, they are a crude tool.

Look for essential craftsman amd his video on them, unlike mbm he's a time served framer who has used them along with framing squares (a tool i consider to be better tham a speed square) most of his adult life.
