Hi all

I have been a member of the forum for some time. George/ cornucopia told me about it so I join but have not gotten round to posting any pics of my work.

This piece I made is spalted beech and is around 120mm dia x 130mm high.

It has an Anjan lid which is carved and has a metal bead separating the two to give a bit of contrast.

It is sat on a ebonised Ash base.

comments welcome.

take care

Mark

Paul J and maltrout512 thanks you for your comments. I am glad George introduced me to the forum.

Beautiful work Mark, I do like the lid design.

Hope you don't mind me pinching your ebonised base idea, it may just work for an idea I've got on the go.

Very nice piece,Mark - the metal bead and flame-shape on the lid finish it off perfectly :D

You are fully forgiven for taking time to post anything, if that is what we're to expect seeing !! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Mark, that is absolutely beautiful.
What a superb piece of work. 8)

One can aspire to something like that, but I know for me, that is a long long long way off, if ever. Its utterly outstanding.

Cap 'doffed'.. in fact cap removed and presented to you on a velvet cushion.

Awesome. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Agreed it is a lovely piece. Often spalted wood looks 'rustic' but here it seems much more sophisticated if that makes sense. Combination of woods and metal works well. Keep 'em coming we all need the examples to aspire to.

Thank you I enjoy making lidded forms. I use to like carving/sculpting but I am an impatient so in so, so I thought of incorporating the carving onto the lids, this way I manage to satisfy my interest in in carving fre forms.

Thank you. No carry on. It is an idea that I actually used for a sculptural piece which I will post.

I am always looking for ways to add interest to my work.

Thank you for your comment. The metal bead is from a beading shop. I also use ceramic and glass ones.

Thanks all

Mark

Could i ask how & with what you finished it with?

Have to agree with Jenx, are you a professional turner or a hobby turner? and how long have you been turning?, you are very skilled, well done, and keep the pictures coming. 8) :D
