Doug B, Thank you. It is finished down to 600 grit abrasive, then the
surface was dampened to raise the fibres then cut back with 600
grit again once dry. The I load it with cellulose sanding sealer
giving it a good soaking. Then this was buffed back with a cloth
By loading it it gives a great base shine when buffed at speed
with a cloth.
once this was done I used Renaissance wax which doesn't show
finger prints as a wax finish does. I put on around 4coats of this
buffing by hand each time with a soft cloth.
If you have not heard of it, it is a micro-crystalline wax polish
developed for the British museum originally to protect the
artifacts as from what I usderstand wax as we know it can be
damaging to them. This one protects wood, metal, paper, leather
marble etc etc. And it does not show finger prints at all so is
great for gallery pieces where people will pic them up etc. This
the finish getting slowly ruined.
