Welcome Mark, what a piece to introduce yourself
with. =D> =D> =D> Stunning is all i think of to
say. 8) 8) 8) :D

Hello all. Thank you very much for all your comments .

Glenn, Thank you very much.

Doug B, Thank you. It is finished down to 600 grit abrasive, then the
surface was dampened to raise the fibres then cut back with 600
grit again once dry. The I load it with cellulose sanding sealer
giving it a good soaking. Then this was buffed back with a cloth
By loading it it gives a great base shine when buffed at speed
with a cloth.
once this was done I used Renaissance wax which doesn't show
finger prints as a wax finish does. I put on around 4coats of this
buffing by hand each time with a soft cloth.
If you have not heard of it, it is a micro-crystalline wax polish
developed for the British museum originally to protect the
artifacts as from what I usderstand wax as we know it can be
damaging to them. This one protects wood, metal, paper, leather
marble etc etc. And it does not show finger prints at all so is
great for gallery pieces where people will pic them up etc. This
the finish getting slowly ruined.

Hope this helps.

THOMASB Thank you very much. I am a professional turner
and have been turning for around 9 years, professio
-nally for the last two.

WIZER Thank you for your comment and I will.

What can I say but, stunning!
The whole piece is brilliantly put together - and as TEP said, hope you
don't mind us all pinching the base.. :)

Welcome to the forum.
As you can see it's a very friendly crowd here.

Post more pics as soon as possible!

Now, where did I leave those woodcarving tools I was meaning to
get round to sharpening one day......?

It did work, Mark and I must say a stunning gallery of turnery of the finest.
I am impressed with your website, and like your work, simple flowing lines without banners and bells, but EFFECTIVE .
Brilliant work , I wish you well, and hope to see more and be inspired.
