Our thirteen year old granddaughter has given me her ancient mobile telephone with a 2mb pixel camera.

The young lady has not passed on the instruction book and I don't want to keep pestering her asking for user instructions

I have got to get a sim card, something mentioned about 3 type?

I will most probably get a pay as you go account.

Any advice or a pdf instruction book would be appreciated, I don't want to go to their web site because I sure I will be bombarded with telephone spam.

No you won't. They are pretty good and you can easily opt out.

Might help, dw, if you told us which model out of the zillion they have produced

Not much help, dw. I think the 3 might refer to 3G. Are you sure there's no label inside it underneath the battery? What happens when you turn it on? Have you tried sticking your own SIM in?

here is the manual.
It is probably locked to the 3 network which unfortunately can be a nightmare to unlock.

I got the wife a brand new Sony Ericsson on the 3 network, took it into the local phone accessory shop and they unlocked it for £15 iirc, took a few days to do as it was too new and they had to find out how to do it, so with your year old phone it shouldn't be any problem.

Well it looks like one, last year when I went in there with my Australian mobile he literally just pulled out a cardboard box from under the counter with loads of electric leads and then unlocked the phone for a tenner.

Anyway I am learning, there is a three shop in Torquay, but I cannot see any reference to sim cards, so giving them a call later.

So missed out the knocking shop and went to 3 shop, £2 for the sim card and then I asked for a £10 credit.
And then I got the sim card free.

Finally got the mobile working, I've used up 12p already ) with help from my granddaughter.
Must have taken nearly 3 hours to get the credit allotted and phone working.
The mobile has got a removable memory card and when I switch on it sometimes asks if I wish to reformat. So I tried the usual default pin numbers, 1234 and 0000 and got the final warning it would be locked if I didn't get it correct next time. My daughter and grandchildren also suggested the numbers above and we have come to a decision on a final choice, the other usual, a birthday.
However which birthday, daughter or granddaughter :?
So if it fails what will happen? and how to get a new pin number?
