I thought it was it was about time I posted a few of my projects. I have been busy getting my house ready to go on the market so haven't had much time in the workshop recently.

Here is an oak tallboy built for my parents. It was built mostly from pieces out of my offcut box and a few pieces of veneered MDF. It is finished in the obligatory danish oil.

These are a few photos from some renovation work I did in my parents house.

This is an oak window which has replaced the balustrade at the top of their attic steps. It is made with m&t joinery and has reinforced glass.

You can just about make out the beading in this photo.

I have turned a small bedroom into an ensuite for their master bedroom, here is the sink unit with a 2" walnut countertop.

and lastly, I built them a set of drawers. These are very utilitarian and are for storage. They are made from veneered MDF with solid oak lipping.

Thanks for looking

Cracking work there Simon  , bet you got plenty of brownie points
off the oldies for it.

Hi Simon. That's a lot of work. I was looking at my scrap collection earlier and really think it's about time I put some of the smaller pieces to use.

I like the utilitarian storage. It looks good and does the job.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Cheers, Ted.

I think the tall-boy, window and sink are all excellent.. but the handles spoil the last piece for me.

The tallboy looks really good - I particularly like the way you have sized the drawers. Did you work to any particular formula for the drawer size?

The drawer units also look great although I think I might have gone for different handles (just personal taste - not a criticism).

Cheers :D
Tony

All very commendable units, great to see the use of decent wood in the structural work as well.

Also have to agree about the handles on the tallboy I'm afraid, not what I would have chosen. I think I would have also liked to see the drawers a little closer together as well...for me, there's too much of a gap between each one - Rob

Tony, I used the hambridge proprtioning calculator found here

Thanks for the comments fellas.

Isn't it funny how different people like different things -

I love the tallboy, the spacing between the drawers looks grrrreat to me!

Yes I'm happy with it as well, better a clean looking gap than a narrow one that makes even the slightest misalignment with use show up.

Excellent stuff, Simon.

I particularly like the tall-boy; lots of nice styling details such as the chamfer on the drawer fronts. The only worry I'd have is the sharp corners of the top - you'll have someone's eye out!

Dan

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

G - the walnut is finished with a matt polyurethane. It is obviously in an area that will get splashed, so I needed the best protection possible.
