My daughter would like to replace her kitchen laminate worktop with a solid wood block one. However she does not do maintenance so regular oiling will not happen. Water spills are 'usually' cleaned up. I think the appearance will suffer fairly quickly.
Could I use a spirit based varnish to seal the entire worktop?
I can attach it to the cabinets to allow it expand/contract.
