An oversized denum jacket has two front top pockets with flaps (non chip collection) as well as other pockets at sides and sometimes inside.................. Charity shops have low low prices.

Can't really help on the supply front but I do have a couple of observations.

I have one so called Turners smock of reasonable fabric quality purchased many years ago at a show, thought it was on the dear side at the time, has worn well BUT it has a robust and exposed Metal Zip down the front that is a real pain if you forget and pick up that finished or part finished item to give a quick buff or sand, many's the time I've had to refinish because of the carless scratch imparted by the zip when holding the item against me.

I got my daughter to make me one with a placket covering the front zip and it saves the frustrating risk.

So beware, try to find one without an exposed zip.

As for the rear pockets, personally I very rarely use them, they still collect shavings and dust regardless and buffing cloths etc. placed in them get contaminated and few turning aids lend themselves to pocket storage.

Most of the wood turners jackets I've seen didn't look very good to me. The ones they sell at my club have oversize sleeves that you velcro down to the size required. The sleeves therefore end up being bulkier than they need to be.

Check out a Jimmy Clewes video and you're see he wears an apron with a mandarin collar similar to this.

There are other makes and some will ship to the UK if you can't find a supplier over here.

I got my wife to make me one from a couple of old pairs of jeans I was going to throw out.

I've a friend uses an artist's smock and is happy with it.

Also, if the zip is of concern, a chef's smock has buttons / poppers - this would probably serve well AND as there are many more chefs than woodworkers, the price is probably better!

I just googled 'chef's smock' - there are boonions of them out there - from about a tenner up to stupid.

Then there are always lab coats and possibly a boiler suit if you want to cover trousers, too

HTH
