I had a friend at university with anosmia. For a brief time (after some sort of treatment, an operation or such) he was able to smell and taste again. He was so happy. He loved the smell of limes, and it was his new favourite thing. After a follow up treatment/procedure, he lost the sense again :-(
I can't help wonder if it was a good thing that he got to smell limes for a brief time, or worse because he was teased with a new sense then losing it again.

Oh the things we take for granted.
