Just came across this on The Wood Whisperer Community

Thought some of you might be interested..

I'm working on the cabinet design to take the saw now and plan to include a shape like that as part of the construction.... but in board rather than metal.

I really like the fact that it exits from the side rather than the bottom. I'm not sure how less efficient that will be, but it makes it much easier to build into a rolling cabinet.

I might even have a go at doing it this way. But never worked with metal before :-k

It's certainly more convenient. Provided that you've sealed up all the other gaps around the base and therefore, the dust has nowhere else to go, I don't really see as it being disadvantageous when the dust should fall down that way eventually. :)

Well I'm just guessing that some dust will collect around the bottom edges, unless you have a high powered sucker.

I don't think it will matter that the dust collects around the bottom, in fact it may be an advantage as it will collect in an arc and may stop a vortices forming at the bottom giving the dust a smooth path to the exit.

our ts 200 mod extracts through the side (we did it in wood not ali tho) and we dont get much residual dust (using a DX5000 as our DE)
