Pekka - the position with Bristol Design is that they went into making rather nice Norris smoother copies back in the late 80s and still have some stock of the castings, kits and finished planes. I got the impression that they had had problems finding reliable people to do the small scale castings and machining to the standards needed and I don't think they will be making any more, once the stock has sold.
But I think you might have successfully planted an idea in Jim's mind if it's feasible to make successful castings with domestic equipment. I'm sure he will be following closely when you do a new thread or blog post, with questions such as where to get suitable sand, what metal you used etc.
