Don't get hung up on the jig. If you get the pressure right (down pressure on the tip, driving pressure from the handle, very little pressure on the jig), things will go fine.

These skills are needed, in any case, even with wonderful jigs. There is no jig rigid enough to "enforce" proper sharpening; they merely guide.
