Hi my friends have just moved house but their sky is not getting a signal. They have contacted sky who want a hefty sum just to check the dish.

They have been informed the previous owners had Sky Q installed with new dish and cables so the question is for any tech savvy folks is will the lmb for sky q be compatible with sky HD?

I believe it's not and has to be new. I'd suggest you friend phones sky and asks to be put through to cancellations. He'll be asked why he wants to leave and if he explains I bet they'll offer to send an engineer foc. They are very good at customer retention.

Agreed.

Sky want to be the largest supplier in the UK, you cant do that by losing customers.
I did this last year for myself (and got a great deal, but it's a bit long winded :? ) and about 6 weeks ago for my mother in law. She was in a similar situation having issues with her dish. £60 to get an engineer out. One phone call later, asking to go through to cancellations after the fist person said no discount available, and an engineer was booked (who fitted a new dish) for free and her bill was dropped by £8 a month as an apology for the inconvenience.

It's pretty well known that Sky are easy to get discounts from.
