I have never got round to mastering this program, perhaps an hour an evening instead of TV might be more worthwhile.

I learned sketchup while watching tv, just put the computer where I can see the tv too. TV is too boring to watch on it's own, but coupled with a bit of computing, it's tolerable.
 
what a great website, spent 2 years blundering through sketchup, without a clue how to use it. just finished watching all the videos. i`m pretty confident of designing some furniture stored in my head and printing the plans drawn to use in the workshop. thanks andersonec.

perhaps a sticky in the design section for this link??

I just took a look at this site and while I can appreciate the huge amount of work that he's put into it, can't help think that he's not using 'best practice'. For example, the use of groups instead of components. For me, the articles by daveR and Luca are by far a better way to go.
