The drive pulleys are internal right? If so I didn't even consider that. I'm using the exposed bit.
The washer idea is great. I'll get one this weekend. I've no idea why it wedged on, I didn't catch it or anything. I thought it was because it was a cold day so the metal simply got tighter.
