I need to make a couple of signs for the entrance to our village. The existing ones are hand painted on plywood with a graphic and wording. They are about 600mm square. I am suprised they have survived the elements for over ten years but they have now deteriorated to such a point they have to be replaced. I have an idea to replicate the sign onto paper and then laminate it to plywood or aluminium with a clear resin. This would then be fixed onto a thicker sheet of ply and capped and sealed on all edges. Has anyone any experience of casting resin over such an area ??

I'd seriously consider using acrylic - cast acrylic has a life well in excess of 30 years and is easy to rout and clean
