Hi all,
Some of you will remember that I went to Sierra Leone over Easter and, indeed, some of you were kind enough to contribute towards it. We had a debrief day last weekend, involving all 5 teams that went out between December and May, as well as the permanent team out there.
I've received this update and I thought some of you might be interested.
We went out to Sierra Leone to...
...build a new rehabilitation home for St George Street Kids at Grafton.
What also happened...
A section of roof at Waterloo Hospital was repaired.
Doctors' accommodation at Waterloo Hospital was completed.
Teams provided medical supplies for Dr. Elmer.
Mosquito nets were hung on all beds at Waterloo Hospital.
Nikki taught nursing students and updated medical records at SDA hospital.
A Pulse-Oximeter was provided by one team-member for Waterloo Hospital.
Residents at King George Nursing Home were provided with several meals.
Team donations provided new mattresses and sheets for 45 beds.
Teams cleaned all and started painting one of the King George Dormitories.
Donations of food and clothes were give to King George Nursing Home.
Donations of school materials were given to Glorious Primary School.
Donations provided a proper bed for each room at the Hastings home for ladies with polio.
A mirror, clothes and rice were given to Hastings.
4 girls at Hasting had their school fees paid for a year.
Donations paid for dying materials at Hastings so that the ladies can earn a living.
Hasting had their their garden dug over and were given seeds to grow crops.
Donations paid for part of the rebuilding of the kitchen wall and the roof of the boys' dormitory at Leonard Cheshire home.
Kids at St George's foundation were give Arsenal football strip!
Donations of clothes went to St Georges School
Teams raised funds for St George to buy a new vehicle.
3 College students had their fees paid for a year.
2 secondary school children had their fees paid for a year.
Food and medical expenses were paid for 8 students at SDA primary school.
A well was built at Kamakwie village.
Donations provided a roof for Sulley's house.
Donations paid for a concrete slab for Bobson's home and his medical fees.
St George's rent was paid for 1 year.
Team's paid for Mohamed's father's medical fees, and later for his funeral.
Teams helped pay for an operation which saved Mohamed's hand after an infection.
"Bob Marley" received medical treatment which saved his life after being stung by a scorpion.
Now that didn't all happen in the two week's I was out there, but all the teams were out for only two weeks and all that did happen.
