Should I ?, chair purchase

So tempted, and am in need of something i would appreciate, and the price seems very fair.

Was hoping to find a 670, but alas they're always seriously beyond my budget, and it just wouldnt be the same opting for a reproduction. Been looking for years for one. Be happy with any condition, bashed, ripped,torn,delaminating, feathers everywhere, the one the dog slept on, anything, but alas alas.

This could be a wee stop gap though.

20 years ago I worked on the Glasgow Vitra shop build, always had a passion for Eames,and even slept on the 670, well 2 actually, facing each other, dirty paint streaked work trousers and filthy boots. Just sat down for a few mins as i was doing 18h straights and ..... some mad wiping with a wet cloth.

I've bought several chairs from these people and have visited their warehouse in London to have repairs done on existing chairs. They are a very serious company with vast amounts of stock and what they sell is excellent (and warranted). They have constant new stock and may have or be able to source what you really want.

I too also coveted the Eames chair/footstool combo (that's a 670 AFAIK) - lots of stupid prices or poor quality stuff on ebay and similar - I bought one of these last August - really good quality leather and finish on the plywood etc. I paid £569, delivered for the black leather and rosewood version - delivery from stock in 3 days. [There was also a "free" metal side table in the deal that they "valued" at £60 - that went on Gumtree for £30 !]

I once worked at a (as then) relatively new exchange which folded after those planes hit those buildings in New York. The original furniture fit out budget was astronomical so all high end and genuine. The company had a fire sale for staff on all the furniture, wall art and plasma displays the day I took some leave. Eames chairs went for a fiver, some were still in packaging. I often wake up screaming at 3.00am!!!!!!

I liked eames but now switched my affection to Le corbusier stuff.

I hanker after a Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chair and a Corbusier Grand Confort chair (or 2 seat setee) - but prices are astronomical, even for repro of any sort of quality.
