Hi all
some time ago I came up with this jig that I use to make mortices with my router (unless I don't want to use my mortice chisels).
The size of the mortice is not straightly dependent on the diameter of the bit, since in multiple passes you can make almost every size.
front view
Lateral view. The rail on the right is used for the parallel guide of the router (whit attached an extra fence)
The jig is fixed to the bench with two clamps.
The small wooden fences in the picture are used to set up the length of the mortice
The piece is in the jig
The position of the bit is made by eye
These are the bits I use
The mortice is done
You are ready to square the mortice
Nice fit!
