Do people still use lead weights for sea fishing or are they now frowned upon

I assume for the same reason that I believe they no longer use lead shot in shotgun cartridges, scattering quantities of this poisonous stuff all over the countryside not a good idea.

This is how the tea candle holder/engine cowlings ended up.
The alloy is very soft and thin and they have a few small dimples here and there which were an annoyance but on reflection, that's how they were on the Camel in real life, so acceptable.
I had a good few goes at it but after half a dozen attempts was not seeing much or any improvement which resulted in an interesting conversation with the child bride.
Me: I'm off to the hardware to buy some tea candles.
Wife: Are you back building furniture again?
Me: No ......?
Wife : Why do you want teak handles?
Finally, I dumped my little problem onto the forum and you chaps really came up trumps. Thank you for all the input and advice.
