My sister wanted a teapot trivet to give to someone as a present and she sent a drawing, this was the result and I hate it, but as long as she's happy... Part of the handle broke out right at the end of the last cut owing to a void in the ply, so I hated it even more when that happened.
The alien I cut because my o/h is always on about them and whether there's other intelligent life in the universe. 'Other' implies there's intelligent life on Earth, but that's debatable.

Nice work Martin. Those voids are a real pain but it looks brilliant. I don't think the alien is the Stig, the heads to big.

Martin they are different,if your sister asks it would be impolite to refuse  .You have been very unlucky again finding the void,it does annoy you and it can happen at any point. :( Its a pity that it spoiled your enjoyment of cutting it out.

Don't you just hate getting commissions from family on subjects you aren't keen on? I tend to say "yeah I'll see if I can fit it in" and hope they forget all about it. It rarely works

Good work though Martin and I hope you rewarded yourself with a nice project . . . . a bit like a piece of chocolate after taking your medicine
