I've been asked me to make some new legs for his settee

I was given one of the old legs to take measurements of

I put some light coloured elm between centres

knocked into the round and divided up into lengths each length had its own dovetail holding

heres all 8 ready for the next stage

these legs are completely out of sight once fitted so no need for any design just strength. I mounted them in to the chuck drilled in within an inch of the top then drilled a 7 mm hole right through for the screw- sanded and sealed ready for the last stage.

I made a friction drive from an offcut

slipped the blank over it

then gently put the tail centre into the 7mm screw hole- so that i could turn away the dovetail.

heres the finished articles

Nice work, definitely better than the original.. :D
I quite enjoy a bit of production turning from time to time;there's always a bit of a challenge to make more than one of something, and get them to look the same.

Hey George, that's getting awful close to spindle work. Nice job.

Nice work cornucopia...but see you forgot to put your
stamp on your work.....Like the way you made the friction drive
Must keep a note of that....
