hello. i'm new to this forum please excuse me pestering, but i was wondering if there is anyone near the Penzance area who is into scroll sawing and perhaps we could meet up, i could do with some handy tips!! thanks. Terry

Hi Terry, afraid I live in Glos so not much use to you, my advice would be to buy a copy of Patrick Spielmans excellent book "Scrollsaw handbook" you can get a second-hand copy from Amazon from about £3.50 inc p&p. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scroll-Saw-Hand ... +Spielmans I learnt more from this book than all others put together.

There is also a newer edition but it is a lot more expensive http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-New-Scroll- ... b_title_bk most of the info in the early edition is still fully relevant.

I bought my copy over 20 years ago and still look at it frequently.

A very warm welcome to the forum Terry,I am also a long way from you.John has suggested the Bible of the scroll saw which is ideal for a newbie. You are fortunate to have the forum to ask questions about this fabulous hobby that we all enjoy,it is not pestering to be asked questions here and you will only learn by asking. :?

Terry.

Have you had a look on Y-tube, if not, give it a go, just type scroll sawing into the search, and you will find many videos on the subject. If you do have a look at these videos, bear in mind some are running at 2x or more playback speed.

I know I am not that far from Penzance, but I have (multiple sclerosis) so I don’t go out, sorry.

Take care.
