I wonder if you could let me know the blade dimensions on your scraper plane? I am just starting to think about making a wooden one.......

I'll measure it tomorrow and let you know.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Mike,

Veritas supply three types of blade for the scraper plane. A thin one, made from high carbon steel, which can be bowed using the screw on the plane. This is the blade I have.

A thicker one made from A2 tool steel, which cannot be bowed.

A toothing blade also made from A2 tool steel.

They are all 2 7/8" wide and 4" long at their longest point.

Details on the BriMarc website here http://www.brimarc.com/home.php3?page=p ... C_106_22_9 and the Lee Valley website here http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx ... 1182,48945

Cheers

Thanks Paul,

I think I will be going for the second option..............the thicker non-bowing blade. If I want a bowed blade I'll go back to the card scraper.

Mike
