Scheppach Basato 3 tips - a good selection of blades?

Hello all - new to this forum and just getting started with new hobby - my mistakes outweigh my successes so far!

I came by a Scheppach Basato 3 bandsaw in good condition, although it requires blades and I wanted some advice on a good selection to start with, plus suggestions on suppliers.

I intend to use the saw for both general woodworking, alongside a radial arm saw, so some joinery/furniture projects etc. In addition, as i have started turning, and would like to be able to prepare blanks and where capable saw smallish logs require something larger for such tasks.

I've read a lot about carbide tipped, skip-toothed, etc etc etc and am now thoroughly confused! Any suggestions on a good selection of blades to get started with which could handle the rather general range of tasks outlined above, along with good suppliers please.

Any advice much appreciated.

Save yourself a lot of headache and email [email protected]. Ian John is a member her and supplies the best blades available anywhere. Just tell him what you want to achieve and he'll send you what you need.

FWIW, I have the Basato 5 and my main blades are a 1/4" 6TPI for general and curvy stuff and a 3/4" 3TPI skip with a raker (I think) for ripping and resawing. I also use a 1/16" lots of TPI for cutting dovetails.

But just talk to Ian, he's your friend.

+1 for Ian @ Tuffsaws, very helpful bloke, tell him what you'll be cutting and he'll sort you out. I have the Bench Top Basato 1 and he did the same for me about 6 months ago, they go through timber like the proverbial hot knife through butter!

Steve's too modest, er, probably forgot to say: he is a fount of knowledge on all things bandsaw-ish, especially setup and tuning.

I bought my bandsaw roughly a year ago, and Steve's DVDs shortly afterwards (link in his sig, usually). I learned a great deal and now have it running very sweetly indeed. I'd also recommend Ian at Tuffsaws, as would anyone who's dealt with him, I expect - great blades great service!

Ah ha! They do look very good indeed - the bundle is very tempting - jigs, accessories, bandsaw etc etc...

I can report back to say that Ian at Tuffsaws was incredibly helpful and i will be ordering some blades soon from the options presented.

Looks like i may need to think about some DVDs next pay day too!
