hi all
well i really had a good day in the cabin today, gave the saw quite a run cutting 21mm wood all day long and i managed to finish up 60 reindeers, 70 in total for this order..
Very pleased with the saw overall although i did get a touch of chatter on a few occasions as most of the pieces of wood were hanging over the very small table..

Roll on tomorrow..

Any pic?

My used Hegner Multicut 2 has arrived today but not going to unwrap it till the new year.

Steve

Hope you enjoy it steve, although i would check it to make sure everything is ok, if you leave it until the new year you could have problems if there is..

No pics as yet but hopefully there will be some tomorrow and of the other bits i have been cutting..

When I got my Hegner I was surprised at how small the table was. With the things I make there is a lot of overhang. I also get chatter and this is caused by one of two things, one is when the wood is not quite flat and the second is when making tight turns and the blade is trying to catch up on itself. Overall I am very pleased with the saw, its a solid workhorse.

Great to hear you had a good trial day on the new saw Steve , =D> .

Hope you have many years like that , don't forget to post a few piccs. now and then .

I was cutting some 12mm yesterday and getting chatter, especially on corners, as Geoff notes. I have found bigger blades can cause it too. I am used to cutting 8mm or less with #5 or #3 blades, and it seldom happens. A bit of extra pressure on the work while cutting corners cured it.

I had a problem the other day with blades slipping out of the top clamp, I couldn't get it tight enough. I was a bag of nerves from waiting for the BANG until I cured it by cleaning the clamp with isoproyl alcohol (used only because it was handy) and then pulling some fine wet & dry through the clamp. It's been no trouble since.

This has happened to me about 3 times so far, i'm still not sure how hard it should be to push the tensioner lever back once the blade is threaded, as mine takes quite a force, but manageable..

Probably nowt to do with it but I only had trouble with blades slipping out of the clamps when I started using the Flying Dutchman blades, it never happened with the Niqua blades although it may be just a coincidence.

It is really annoying when this happens!

(I mentioned this issue here a few months ago when I first started using the FD blades)

Hi scrimper
i believe the FD blades are also Niqua blades just branded FD by mikes workshop, i am going to try the hegner blades that came with the saw soon to see how they perform..
