Le dullard de la commune
I’ve got a nice cross cut saw that I’m currently “fettling” there is no name on it but there is a brass “insert” with “established 1770” embossed on it.
I have two others (cross & rip) obviously a pair, again I can see no marks except one has a black plastic washer behind one of the brass nuts and I think I can read “Tyzak & son and something ltd”
Incidentally, is there anyone (preferably 30 mile radius of Loughborough) who would teach me how to sharpen saws – I’ve read the theory over & over but still do not have the confidence to apply file to steel.
Once I’ve learned the art I thought I'd fix the six Distons   I have tucked away in my loft
