A few stalwarts from the forum ventured to Salisbury for the annual Bash at Pete's place, so a few pics from the day. First is the vittles which we were under orders to polish off:

or else there was no pud:

We managed to plough our way through it in Pete's conservatory:

Going round the table in a clockwise direction there's firstly Paul C, Waka, Harbo, TheTiddles, 9 Fingers, Paulm and Newt (Pete)

Paul's looking very pleased in this shot:

'cos that shaving is a quarter of a thou thick:

Here's Waka about to do some damage to Paulm with the PaulC's very nice lignum maul (bowling ball donated to the cause by Martin):

and after all the activity, one simply must take it easy with a brew and a nice slab of fresh cream chocolate cake:

The theme of the day was sharpening small blades and spokeshaves, so I sorted out the assembled 'shaves provided by Waka, 9Fingers and PaulC. We were all impressed by Paulm's collection of pen knives and especially with the methods used to sharpen them.
All in all, another fabulous event, fantastic food (many thanks again Pam) and really great company.
Martin and Philly...you missed a good 'un   - Rob

Looks like you all had a good time. :) Sorry I wasn't able to make it but, I guess there's always next year.

I assume these events are invitation only to keep the riff raff out or did everyone win a golden ticket in a wonka bar :D

I never got invited to any so I resorted to hosting my own.

I got loads of riff-raff at mine!

Your place sound ideal for a 'mega bash', Jon. Centrally located with lots of space.

How about it?

Numbers are limited by invitation only...there's only a certain amount of people you can get into Pete's 'shop ('elf & safety) - Rob

That was one of the many great things about hosting a bash. It gave me the imperative and deadline I needed to get the workshop sorted out and my tool storage in order.

Miraculously, it has stayed fairly tidy ever since. It makes working a pleasure! It is also better for when customers turn up unannounced.

I can heartily recommend it.

Cheers

It was another great day out, Pete and Pam are great hosts, (and the food was as good as it looks in the pics :D ) and always interesting things to see and do and chat about with the guys.

Great fun :D

Cheers, Paul :D

Thanks again to Newt and Pam for their hospitality.

As a 'wood bash virgin' I was made to feel very welcome and learned some tricks and tips for sharpening the old spokeshave inherited from my Dad.

Excellent food and good to put some faces to names from the forum.

Cheers

Bob

I'll second what everyone else has said, it was a wonderful day out, good company, good food and lots of knowledge being passed around.

Thank you Pam and Newt.

If I ever get the tool cabinet finished I'll host one in Weymouth.

Indeed! I only managed to be there for the food bit but it was great to meet you all and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will host when I've got a finished my tool cabinet too... and when I have a house....

Many thanks Pete and Pam

Aidan

I see lots of food ****, but not much in the way of tool ****..... shame on you.

Cheers

Yes a great event - excellent food and company.
Pams' food is simply delicious.
Sorry I had to get away early.

Rod (exhausted after another day looking after the Grandchildren :) )
