So the millionaire public school boys won opposed to the millionaire public school boys who lost.

Not much choice is there.

"The deficit is a bit of a myth....."

Try that one on the bank manager next time he wants a little chat about the overdraught.

As an item of public expenditure, annual interest on the National Debt is now a bigger bill than the defence budget. I may be entirely wrong, of course, but I suspect little facts like that do resonate with much of the electorate.

I suspect that was true for many voters. There were about five million votes cast for the Greens and UKIP - two seats between them. There were about four million votes for the SNP, giving them fifty-odd seats.

In a sense, I can understand why some people feel it's not worth bothering to vote.

Just what the millionaire school boys and the non-dom press barons, bankers, tax dodgers, all want you to think. Music to their ears. Looking at the press coverage it's a wonder anybody didn't vote conservative.
Not voting is surrender.

What change?
Must be rumours then that the leaders of Labour, Liberals and UKIP have all resigned

   Don't be silly Roger

EDIT: What was "conveniently ignored" (asuming the figures are accurate) is that the meteoric increase from 35% to 60% happened under a Labour government who openly boasted that there was nothing left in the coffers when they lost the election. The last figures on that link are between 5 and 6 years old. That smacks of living beyond their (our) means from where I stand

This is interesting http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... ain-labour
It's one of the weirdest things about the last few years that Labour hasn't fought back against the "Gordon Brown destroying the economy" myth. I think they've given up under the strain of right wing media pressure. Admittedly they were very feeble about resisting neoliberalism but it was all the rage at the time.
NB the Liam Byrne note about nothing being left (nonsense) was supposed to be a joke but it's become a main part of right wing black propaganda.

Yep
I've decided to end my contribution before it goes any further

Jacob, you would go up in my estimations if I knew that you really mean what you post. If you really DO care about society and people then I would have expected this to manifest itself across this forum. Over the years, there have been many unfortunate life-changing events that have affected many of the members. Other members have been quick to sympathise and offer support. As one would expect from a caring community.

And yet.

And yet, as far back as I can remember or recall or even search for I cannot find ONE such thread where you have offered ANY form of condolence or support. Nay, it goes further. When a thread started about David Charlesworth's illness and garnered support from the forum, you took the opportunity to be quite nasty about the whole affair.

I'll not mention your comment about 'towelheads' over on another forum.

Is this 'champagne socialism'? Crocodile tears? I know not nor care as back on the Ignore list you go.

But you have done - you can't have it both ways! Could you find a link to that post, it's obviously very familiar to you?

Yes please.
BTW Roger; "going up in your estimation" is not something I particularly seek! In fact I'd be rather worried and see at as a personal failure.
