For small stuff I use an old wooden clamp, the type with 2 threaded rods, especially useful for odd shapes. I don't know if there's a specific name for them, but picture below (hopefully).

Thanks - that's useful for bearing cutter use I would have thought. My dada was an engineer and I have some metal parallel jaw clamps like those which might work in the same way.

The Rutlands kit is interesting as it suggests it will work with a fence, which is quite useful
 
To me it appears to be a solution looking for a problem. I'm not seeing anything you couldn't do with the mitre fence and some clamps, or Mickjays clamps and a push stick
