They look extremely similar to the ones Lidl were selling about a month ago. Lidl had two sizes: the smaller ones were, frankly, rather nasty, but I bought a pair of the ones with the larger column (about 25mm wide), and I think that's what Rutlands are selling (would ring to check). The finish is a bit rough (plating is poor), but they work well, and that's a pretty dashed good price (curse you, Rutlands!).

:)

I happened to be in the market for a couple more F clamps, so 10 are on the way! darn those daily deals.

They look the same as the ones i got from Aldi, which were various sizes and ok for the money paid.

I have these, though I got them from somewhere else. They're cheap and cheerful, but the do the job well. Not had one fail.

The blue plastic caps slip off easily though, so worth epoxying on

Hi Selwyn,

Mine arrived this morning.

They actually seem reasonable decent, the teeth on the bar seem alright, my one quick critisism is the threads seem a bit stiff/tight but it might just be something a couple of dabs of ceramic lube will sort right out. Lets face it though for £3 a go, i can't fault them.

Parcel came this morning. First impressions are that for £3.29 each including postage, I'd be all over them if I saw them anywhere in the high street at that price, so, I am happy that I got them, and to be honest they feel pretty sturdy, and seem to do the job they are meant to do. Verdict: for the price, a decent buy.

And yes I have read the negative Rutlands threads but so far my two purchases from them (the other one being the six bevel-edge ash-handle chisels made by a 'family firm' and reduced from £54 to £29 recently) have been, imo, good value and speedily dispatched, so I can only speak as I find.

Mine arrived today as well - perfectly decent, should do the job nicely. Must admit I've never had an issue with Rutlands either, and have bought a fair few things from them over the years.

I bought ten of these too, arrived this afternoon.

I have already managed to get one jammed #-o

Won't open now.

Is there a sweet spot to hit it maybe to loosen it?

You can slide the top blue plastic cover off and give yourself a little more room :)

Thank you.

That and a lot of agitation of the clamp head released it.

You get what you pay for I suppose.

The trick is to never fully wind them all the way down. Leave a little thread showing so you can back them off, and yes, i learned the same way as you.

Well they're out of stock now - you b*ggers have bought 'em all!

I've never had a problem with Rutlands either. Except being out of stock of a bargain! :D

Will see what price they are when they have more stock.

Cheers

Andrew
