Hi,

I have several band clamps (six I think) the webbing type ones, and they get a lot of use making boxes etc, but they are also good or most things square round odd shaped etc they are usually lots cheaper than the metal band ones but I don't think you can get as much tension, but then you can afford more.

Anyone any experience of this: http://www.rutlands.co.uk/cgi-bin/psPromotions.cgi?promo=85?

I keep considering buying a frame clamp which will only get occasional use. This one is reduced at the moment so wondering whether it's any good?

Cheers
Get one, asap...fantastic :D I've had the Axminster version for years now, highly recommended - Rob

I have one of the Axminster ones and one Bessey. The bessey is much nicer to use but essentially they are the same concept. Obviously useful for picture frames.

:?: But the Rutlands one is still cheaaper.

It is, however, they've lost my imperative to buy now at a vastly reduced price by being over zealous with their original price of the product. I'd be happy to spend my money on other things now and buy the band clamp for a few pounds extra in the future.

I ordered one of the Rutlands frame clamps because I have a lot of framing to do and I know Rob is very pleased with his similar one. It arrived today - seems very good and versatile in that you can use it on various odd-shaped frames, not just rectangular ones :)

Cheers

I think its primary use is on things with mitred joints, like picture frames, and other odd shaped frames, like circular ones, which are hard to cramp with conventional cramps. I think with biscuited drawers, you would probably be better off using sash cramps.

I'm in the market for one of these. I have the Bessey one which is good. But for quick frames where you vee nail the corners you really need a steel clamp. Whacking these nails into hard wood always opens the joint on thin frames (believe me!) The stiffness of the still should help.
The Framecoone is about £50 so both these (Rutlands and Tilgear) look good value - although Rutlands have a got a nerve charging twice as much in the first place for what looks to be exactly the same thing!
Anyone compared these to the Frameco ones by any chance?
Cheers

I have the steel strap (bought them some 12 years ago) but I don't use them after I discovered that at high pressure it seems to slip back (low quality???)

I'm using the ratchet car strap with home-made corners...
