Iroko loco!
I could always turn it into a skateboard if I can't sell it.
With some "white" veneers of whatchamacallit, from an old piano to finish off the theme?

When I was at school in the '60s I was told that there were specialist firms buying scrap furniture especially pianos to take the veneer off and slice it thinner.Often wondered if buying one of those old 'deco' style wardrobes and thicknessing off the backing to leave the veneer fronts might be an idea.
Lot of work i know, but there are some rare and pretty exotic stuff available for next to nothing, and buying in veneer form these days you either pay a horrific price, or they just arent available any more
Plenty of that for relatively cheap compared, available from legit places like Madinter.Talking of rare wood - an even rarer one - king-wood (very dense) - is this of any interest to guitar makers?
(or maybe just a v heavy skateboard?)
Did we ever get to see the finished articles, or was it for soup in the end? When I was at school in the '60s I was told that there were specialist firms buying scrap furniture especially pianos to take the veneer off and slice it thinner.
yes, kingwood would be ideal for a fingerboard, acoustic guitar bridge, headstock veneer, or ac guitar back and sides, most of the genuine rosewoods are very saught after but especially Brazilian because of the way it rings acoustically.Talking of rare wood - an even rarer one - king-wood (very dense) - is this of any interest to guitar makers?

Thanks and info from ttrees - interesting to know not rare - I also measured the pieces I have - plenty long enough (well over 1m, but just a wee bit too narrow for a 6 string instrument neck/board).yes, kingwood would be ideal for a fingerboard, acoustic guitar bridge, headstock veneer, or ac guitar back and sides, most of the genuine rosewoods are very saught after but especially Brazilian because of the way it rings acoustically.
