Ok been a little bit longer break than I first thought but here we go

Spines are cut now and glued with blue epoxy to tie it in with the top. wish I hadn't done this as it was really hard to contain the resin but I did learn a lot. So the legs are all cleaned up and all sanded

The top is nearly finished (I'm just repairing one edge) and then I will flood coat the top.

The top is or should it say wet after wiping it down with cleaner that why it looks all shiny

This is also what the top should look like when finished

So I'm going away for a day or two (London) while the repair dries

while I've got you here reading this what finish would you use for the elm legs, I was thinking of using a gloss varnish but what make and type would you recommend

The danger of a gloss varnish is that the wood can look like it is encased in a thick layer of shiny plastic. Personally, I would opt for a varnish/ oil/ white spirit mix, and wipe it off as soon as you've applied it. Build that up one coat a day for 3 or 4 days, and it looks a whole lot classier than straight varnish.

It's 1:1:1.....but don't bother measuring too carefully. Just roughly by eye is plenty good enough. I posted about it in my Bog Oak Coffee Table thread yesterday or the day before.

After finishing my table and cabinet, I’ve still got some resin left over. Really like the look of this, and could come in handy on my next project. I assume you taped up one end and fill from the top?

Raw69 Yes
I taped up with frog tape then hot melt glued some acrylic to the side and then used a syringe to add the resin.

just remember to wax the acrylic first

so here is the table
I'm just going to add a finish to it before I glue up and add a flood coat to the top

I am going to use as recommended by Mike Oil/varnish/white spirt

So I have Osmo top oil/ Ronseal Varnish I'm going to use
