Those are good pictures
But is the machine single phase ? Have you had it working on single phase?
Has the coil the bit with the yellow wires got a voltage rating on it ?
Reading your earlier posts you don't seem to mention whether it's single or 3 phase or if you have ever had it working ?
Ian

Single phase 230v.
On the coil I can just make out 250V. I hadn't seen it before because it is fai t and slightly obscured. Also a word or code ending CY.
The lathe has been working fine until recently.

Here’s some pictures description will follow

Right if you can wire mains in to the top of the contactor
Neutral to A
Live to C

Motor neutral to E
Motor live to G

Then the wires from the switch should be a 3 wire set
One is connected to both buttons I’ve called this 2. This needs to connect to C as well as the live wire
One is connected to the stop button which i’ve Called 3 it may go via the microswitches if this are still present this needs to connect to D
The other wire called 1 comes from the start button and this needs to go to H which I think goes to the solonoid wire but this is what i need to talk you through as i cant see on the photos clearly enough

Ian

Just another thing if you are following these diagrams
Its an old machine with mains fed control wiring..current practice would state use a transformer at 24v ac for the control circuit. And then a contactor with a 24v coil..
So essential to earth the machine in plenty of places..Mains in to main pedestal then on to switch box and contactor frame..more earths the better
And run from a rcd

Ian

Thanks for all your comments and diagrams. Have successfully got it working and tested it out by turning a bowl this afternoon. Very happy to be back making shavings. Thanks again.
