Hello


Last year I made some blanks for beads turning. But it failed horribly blanks leak resin.

So today I cut one blank an find good part for turning.


But urfonutanele another failture evrywhere is chiped resin.
I use diamond shape.

The chips are because the piece is too long without support. It will flex and as it does bounce around. The chisel will then be grabbing as it does and chipping. That is what chatter is. I would suggest cutting the blank shorter, thirds or quarters, so it doesn't vibrate and then take the lightest cuts you can.

It could be the type of resin, polyester can be brittle and needs a negative rake scraper and small cuts to get a decent finish prior to sanding.
 
Resin is EPO 652 +IDAR
Component A - modified epoxy resin
Component B - modified cycloaliphatic amine
I get pretty nice results in mold casting ant this is most common resin.
 
Vibration was the problem. Its hard to turn something from that because vibrations.
Looks nice but too much work...
