Hullo all, I'm after a descent rendering program for CAD drawings. I use AutoCAD to draw them but the rendering is a bit naf, like it won't do end grain and the likes... I've been told 3D Studio Max is pretty good?

Any ideas?

Sketchup looks about the same as AutoCAD for rendering, isn't bad but I like the very realistic renders. Blender looks amazing, the grapes are spot on! Will it work with AutoCAD though?

Yes it will. Blender has an impressive set of supported file formats it can import.

Any add-on render programmes look great, but they require quite a bit of messing about ... it is not clicking a couple of buttons.

I find Sketchup is brilliant for presentation drawings, there is a programme that works within Sketchup called Turbosketch that does rendering.

Yo really need the advice from the MASTER Dave R
