Haha indeed it is! another way of squeezing more money out of you for a parking permit. [SMIRKING FACE]
Thanks John!

Fraximus,

I can remember walking the streets of Hockley, sticking squares of gummed tape on top of the wheels of parked vehicles. Time and date written on the tape of course and an hour later, if the car hadn't moved, I had to issue a ticket. Soul destroying work and even worse for the driver! Double parking was a real problem then, and disputes were commonplace. so 'Road rage' is nothing new; and no less a pain to deal with than it is now. You'll still need to get there early! Maybe breakfast at work? :D

Enjoy Brum and take care.

John

I can have breakfast at home, I'm living in Hockley/Jewellery quarter. :D
Getting a little excited now, signing all the paper work for the new workshop. I went for the larger one in the end. Now to decide how best to lay it all out...

Sorry I am only a month late on this one.

1) plenty of storage yards around, there is one on the kingsbury road by spagetti junction.
2) I second Precise saw and tool, Although I no longer use them (not due to quality of service etc, but they cannot service our requirements)
3) there are plenty, Lavers aren't the best in my opinion, although I do use them from time to time. When I first started up I used Great Barr sawmills, as they offered a cutting service.

If you ever need a cut and edge service, Ie MFC boards cut to size and edged, then I can help you out.

Hi Mark,

GBS still offer a free cutting service on materials you buy from them.

I was going to be cheeky, and ask them to rip down an 8" x 8" baulk of Douglas Fir, but they would probably have an answer for me!

I don't use GBS any more, we keep about 10k of timber in stock.

When I first started in business I used as many local firms as possible to help me, then found over the years I gradually started doing everything in house.

With regards to the unit size, Try and get the biggest you can afford, being in a small confined space to save a few quid is actually a false economy!!

Thanks for the other suggestions Mark, good to know more than one supplier. Could come in handy if they offer a cutting service too, especially as they have the larger machines able to deal with it easier than I will.

I've gone for the bigger unit with the easier access, I would have spent more time ferrying tools and materials around than I would have saved on the rent. And this one has a higher roof and natural light too.

I'll bear that in mind about the MFC boards Mark, thank you!
