Along with beading tools, ring hollowers and basically anything that doesn't do things the traditional way - my worst buy was a Skewchigouge, which took me longer to pronounce than to find I had made a mistake.

I'd forgotten about that little 'extravagance' ... I have one of those too...
" David Something or other's Skewchigouge' it was marketted as.
.. one of those " how could you have ever lived without it " tools.
- Couldn't sharpen it, couldn't turn with it.. it got the 'circus knifethrowers treatment' into a big pile of polystyrene packaging in the corner.. and I've not seen it since.
For anyone thinking about one... here's another resounding vote for 'just dont'.

I have got a couple but managed to change them to something useful.

The Skewchigouge is a wonderful tool........ once it has been adapted. :)

Sharpen the bevel to the same angle as a scrapper it then works wonderful as a tool for doing the inside of goblets, boxes etc.
