I believe the record is more powerful, 1HP vs 550w (0.7HP), but accuracy and built quality is more important to me really.

Thoughts?

I've had the Record for a few years. Very accurate once it's fitted with a tuffsaws blade and setup the Snodgrass way, perfectly happy with mine.

You must be thinking about Record then. The larger Record Bandsaws are very reliable indeed and do come with a 5 year warranty, which shows the confidence the company has in it's machines. I believe the Axminster guarntee is not as long.

I have the BS400 and once set up correctly with the right blades, as stated above, is fantastic ........... and totally reliable. If you buy when there is a show running, then you can get a showdiscount and usually free delivery, so do bear that in mind to obtain an even better bargain.

What kind of discount?

Not sure as I bought my BS400 a couple of years ago and your BS300 is lower in price. I had £100 off and free delivery, but any discount is a plus to add to the 5 year guarantee.

I've got a BS300E and as said, set up the Alex Snodgrass way with a decent blade it works quite well. I personally didn't like the guides so I made my own but the originals work ok.
