I had one of those for years, sold it for a Carvex on a voucher (which was the only good thing, the voucher), was gutted.

Should have stuck with the Bosch in the first place, but couldn't go back to it as they stopped it I think, that's why I ended up with the Mafell.

I 'needed' a cordless jigsaw and was willing to pay for the carvex but found so many mixed reviews that I forgot it and went Metabo, it's not a patch on the mafell but good enough for the money - there was no way I would pay festool money for an average quality jigsaw.
If I needed a corded quality jigsaw I would try Bosch first, if that was a bust then I'd pony up for the mafell without hesitation.

Trouble is there's always bad reviews of lots of things. Bad reviews seem to always get more air than the good ones. It probably didn't help that the first carvex 400 was a disaster.

All I know is I've got the cordless carvex and I love it and use it all the time. I also have the trion but only use that now if I need to do bevelled cuts.

Before all that I had and still have several Bosch jigsaws and they've always been fine.

I have the 18v cordless barrel grip Festool carvex and haven't had any issues with it but there are mixed reviews touch wood mines been fine, but if I was going for a corded jigsaw I'd plumb for the Mafell.

There was a test done by one of the magazines a while back and the Dewalt won. No Mafell in the competition if I recall. Makita didn't do well. Festool carved did pretty well. (That's all based on my memory)

I have a Dewalt DW331 (and the carvex) and have say I'm surprised a Dewalt trumped Festool. To be fair the Dewalt is built like a tank and has never run out of power on me, but the blade guide wanders more than a badger on heat on my saw.

We have that dewalt and the cordless ones at work, the corded is quite powerful. The adjustable bases are the worst design ever though, nearly glued one in place the other day it was pissing me off that much.

Imo the amount of bad carvex reviews v how many they sell (versus other brands, bigger sellers) killed it for me. And the still poor selection of 18v tools.

At a previous job we had 3 makita jigsaws 2 of one model and 1 of another, all 3 were short lived - the 2 of the same model cut terribly no matter what blade you put in them, the other wasn't bad but died earlier than it should of.
