Does anyone have a recomendation for a rechargeable work light, as I get older my eyes are not what they once were and need all the help I can get ;-)

So am looking for a rechargeable work light, around 100w if possible, I have looked at many online but the reviews are pretty dire, poor quality, don't hold charge or won't charge etc etc

Just wondered if anyone could recommend one, hopefully not to expensive £20 to £40

Unilite are pretty good; had a small one for years and lasts a long time on 1 charge. They have lots of different sizes; likely find one equivalent to 100w bulb if that's what you mean

Electrical wholesalers usually have a selection of rechargeable work lights; saw one in Rexel a year ar so ago for around £20

Thanks for the suggestion but electrical wholesalers are thin on the ground down here, the nearest is about 20 miles away and their website I found impossible to navigate

Do you have any 18v cordless tools? Many of the tool manufacturer make lights that clip onto their batteries, so that could be an option.
Something I hadn't thought of but the only 18V I have now is a Dewalt drill but their rechargeable lamp is £75

Have you looked at toolstation / screwfix? Don't know if you want a spotlight or a rectangular floodlight type, but £40 gets you 1400 lumen floodlight. https://www.toolstation.com/zink-rechargeable-led-work-light-ip65/p64346
£10 if 600 is enough.
Alternatively, how about a rechargeable head torch? £16? https://www.amazon.co.uk/EXTRASTAR-...hvtargid=pla-1740086773128&psc=1&gad_source=1
For reasons I cannot explain I did not look at either site, I have a rechargeable head torch but found its no use for floodlighting an area, its okay for specific jobs, the Toolstation one looked good, but the Screfix one mentioned in another post looks right up my street

You do not have to buy genuine DeWalt.

The key to finding reasonably-priced items (and the way the sellers of these items do not get sued) is to look at 'for' DeWalt.

Just the first example that lit up:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cordless-Battery,90W-Charging-Emergency-Workshop/dp/B0DLGGKQ5D

If you look around, all the heads of the lights are the same - the Chinese sellers just attach a different base to suit whichever battery platform is to power it.

With the Screwfix one, something to consider is the run time and charge time. In the above example, it says 'up to' 6h run time and 3h charge time. Depending on your circumstances of use, that might be inconvenient (for example, you have to bring the light into the house every night after work to charge it and then remember to carry it out of the door with you the next morning). If the 18v goes off in the middle of a job, you swap the battery and keep going. You can also have one battery charging in a different location while you are draining the one that is attached to the light. To charge the SF one, the light has to be within reach of mains power, which in that configuration makes it no different to a corded one.

You know what you want from the tool so please only take the above as food for thought rather than an opinion either way.

i got a couple of these headlights as xmas presents - I thought it would be a scam from a youtube/facebook advert
BUT i have actually found them to be very bright and useful
BUT not sure if they will last very long -
so not a recommendation yet, BUT what WE (I purchased 3 and cases) is they seem to work OK at the moment

I also have a couple of rechargable stand lights - But they dont last very long - maybe 45mins - used a few times , lidl - parkside from centre Isle
my son-in-law also has a couple of rechargable and again dont last long maybe an 1hr when i used recently

so we tend to use powered versions now - so i got a couple of these when on offer at toolstation
https://www.toolstation.com/wessex-led-twin-tripod-work-light-ip65-240v/p31683
and these from wickes again when on offer
https://www.wickes.co.uk/TP-Portabl....uk/TP-Portable-LED-Work-Light---20W/p/114298

But i have now installed a few Batten lights in areas in a garage/workshop

anyway - just some thoughts

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestion, I note your way of searching which I will keep a note of , the one you posted a link to does look mighty flimsy

In this case happily I am retired so pressures of work do not concern me, its mainly for home use or for my daughters when they need a helping hand, one has just bought a house close to us which is keeping me busy ;-)

So an hour is plenty for my needs, but do appreciate your thoughts on it

I got one from I thought Screwfix probably 4 years ago but it looks exactly like the one from Toolstation in the link from alex robinson so it could have been from there, after about 6 months the battery life on it was awful, every time I went to use it it was flat and then when I charged it up it only lasted about 10 mins.

I would like one that runs off Makita batteries but the official ones seem expensive for what they are (tight Yorkshireman) but I might yet take a punt on an Amazon cheapo similar to in the link by @ChaiLatte.

I have a rechargeable head torch which is great for specific jobs but not much use to light an area, in my case as I just posted, I am now retired so its just home use in the main, odd forays into unlit attics etc, where a powered lamp can be more of a nuisance, or no power source available, so I think the screwfix one will do

Appreciate the feedback though, its all useful stuff

Yep, i have 2 head torches as well, BUT this one is very bright and lights up a very large area - if you look at the videos

Retired DIYer , helping out family and friends - so I know what you mean

I confess I didn't even notice the videos at first but for my use a lamp is what i need rather than a head torch
