Sent a friend a record block plane that I had refurbished as he admired it so much. Sent it via the courier with a name of a greek god!
Packed wrapped in bubble wrap inside a well padded box as its not the first time I have sent stuff like this ...
I don't know how they sort and dispatch their gear but when received it was in pieces. He sent me some photos and it looked like someone has taken a hammer to it. Its literally in pieces! I cannot conceive how this can have been done even by throwing it around inside a van! It must have been dropped from a very tall building!
Just to add salt to the wound they have not even bothered to reply to my emails!
Another customer lost!

Anyone recommend a good UK courier?

You get what you pay for i use UPS at http://www.interparcel.com/ use them every week never had a problem, very quick just cost a bit more i sent a plane with herpes that got smashed to pieces, good packing is no good with them when they drive over it with a fork lift truck.

HI
Sorry to hear of your problems.

ParcelForce24 or 48 even ParcelForce48heavy for up to 30kg. Their insurance covers up to £100 as standard, always pay extra to cover whole package (especially if you sell something on ebay and it goes astray or damaged, you don't want to be landed with customer re-imbursement!!). They've been sending mail for eons and sill IMHO the best, most consistently reliable service.

Actually I would agree with "wizards" UPS to a point; generally they are very good. I always used to use them for computer imaging systems before I took early retirement in 2004 but on one occasion they did LOOSE a complete package (£15000) and refused to offer more then a dismal standard £100 compensation. Fortunately my company had its own insurance.

My recommendation would always be to make certain anything you send is properly insured for the FULL replacement cost (which in your case would've been the complete manufacturing/refurbishing cost!)

David

Suggest send a letter recorded delivery to http://www.ceoemail.com/s.php?id=9539 setting out your complaint with a photo and set out a timescale for a reply before you start a claim through the County Court. Has worked for me several times including Parcel Force!

Sorry to hear about your plane.

If it's of any interest I use

http://www.p4d.co.uk/

I can't comment on customer service because I never had any cause for complaint. This firm will collect and deliver parcels. Never had a problem and they are reasonable on cost.

HTH

John :)
