Hi all..just seen a vid about using the above and the demonstrator 'bottomed' each bit into the router...saying each bit will be automatically set at the correct height!
..apparently 'O' rings are used inside the collett to 'cushion' the bit at the same level each time!!?
Is this true for all makes or only certain ones?

Any advice please.

Regards

Gerry

Well I don't understand it myself, surely the depth of the fielding will depend on the plunge? But he must have a reason for saying it.
Do you have a link to the vid? Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly.

I recall a readers tip in one of the American magazines about using a small o ring dropped into the collet to ensure that the shank wasn't bottoming out and the collet tightening onto the shoulder of the shank immediately below the cutter. I am unaware of any collet OEM or after market that includes this as standard. It's a good tip and now I've been reminded I will get a couple out of the van tomorrow for just this purpose.
