Hi all, I did a really stupid thing today in my workshop. My wife wanted something spraying gold so was only to happy to oblige. I found an old can of paint but it ran out of propellant but still had some paint in it so I had the bright idea of makeing a hole in the can and just useing a brush, it was a propper (homer) moment. It did a nice geiser impression all over my workshop. floor, planer, PK saw, RAS. I spent the next two hours cleaning machines (hammer)

Yep, reminds me of the time I was de-icing the freezer compartment. Was impatient and started using a screwdriver. Similar to busting a can, only a lot more hissing.

Reminds me of this (genuine) accident report, which may have presented a solution to your cleanup problem!
The following incident occurred in a crane repair workshop, where pieces of lifting equipment
are routinely inspected for cracks and/or deformities.
A large hook was being stripped of paint in preparation for inspection. Aerosol paint stripper was being used, with a
technician then using a 6000rpm grinder with wire brush cup attachment.
As the technician was brushing the bottom of the hook, hard particles or brush wires were projected, striking one of the
nearly full paint remover aerosol cans sitting on the bench nearby. The particle punctured the can about 1” up from its base
and caused the contents to violently spew from the can while it spun wildly on the bench. This happened so quickly that the
technician was sprayed around his head, shoulders and back with paint remover before he could move away.
He moved as quickly as he could to the wash basin in the workshop and thoroughly rinsed himself off which, along with the
protection of his safety glasses, hard hat and shirt contributed to him only experiencing slight chemical burns on the upper
portions of his body.
Fortunately, the gaseous contents of the aerosol can did not ignite as they spewed from the can. If they had, the employee
could have been engulfed in fire and suffered much more extreme injuries.

Most importantly, did SWMBO get her spraying done??

I can visualise it as I did something similar years ago though nothing got damaged.

Was shooting old tin cans from the gate at the bottom of the garden, ran out of cans and found an old hammerite spray can in the bin. .22 pellet went right through and the can took off in a spray of black paint. Luckily just the grass got it :roll:

Haven't done it since but other aerosol cans make great targets :wink:

It clearly didn't run out of propellant did it? Lesson? Always clean aerosol jets by inverting can and spraying for a few seconds before you put it back on the shelf!

Keep it up with the grey squirrels Dibs. I only get reds here luckily but it's only a matter of time before they are overun here as well.
I only shoot targets though wouldn't hesitate if a magpie wandered into my sights. There are a hell of a lot of them around now at the expense of songbirds.

I had an old Webley vulcan rifle which I passed on to my brother when I bought a new Weirauch HW97KLLT a few months ago and it's an excellent air rifle. I have an old Webley junior pistol as well as the Diana junior rifle which needs a new stock (winter project).

I've threaded some teaspoons on a bar which spin like made when hit, pinecones explode nicely, acorns even better and if I'm really keen, I shoot at golf tees from 25 yards - Big kid or what? :lol:

As a kid, I wanted to try to set, really accuratly, the telescopic lens on my (brother's) air rifle. I clamped it in a workmate, and shooting across the landing from my bedroom into his, was able to get it set up pretty well. Mind you, on the last (well - it wasn't supposed to be the last) shot, I must have kicked the workbench or something as I missed the target, and cut a 1/2 full can of shaving foam.
